New Study Shows Local Hire Provisions are a Boon to the Local Economy

A new study shows how local hire provisions are a boon for the economy of Hamilton County, TN.
Local hiring boosts the local economy....that is the conclusion of a new study examining the effects of "local hire" provisions for Hamilton County, TN.
Dr. E. Bruce Hutchinson, an economics professor at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga who conducted the study, concluded that a $1 million contract awarded to a local contractor employing local workers would boost the Hamilton County economy by $2.6 million.
The study was commissioned by Hire Here - a local Chattanooga-based grassroots dedicated to educating citizens and and the business community about the positive economic impact of choosing local contractors and local workers.
This is just one more example of how the state of Tennessee and Hamilton County egregiously erred by not insisting upon a "local hire" provision for the construction of the Volkswagen Plant here in Chattanooga.
